Clarion Response
[Check the date. This post is about Clarion 2010.]
Wow.
I got my email today. I said I shouldn’t be overconfident. I was right. Flat rejection. No waitlist, not even a particularly warm invitation to apply again, just thanks-but-no-thanks.
I am Scott’s blank astonishment.
There’s still Seattle where I only submitted my WotF story. Was the other that bad? Were my cuts to bring the WotF story down to 6000-words that devastating? I’m lost for words, very unlike me. I knew I was being overconfident. Karma’s a bitch.
So I wait resolutely and much less confidently for CW. I need to remember, tastes run the gamut and what works one place doesn’t work everywhere. I’ll try to remember the reciprocal point; it’s more useful. For now, I’ll walk around stunned and pissy until I hear from CW. Then I’ll be happy or really pissy.
I got the same thing, and I’m in the same mood. Let’s invent a magical world where cw and csd cooperate in picking their targets. In this world cw just couldn’t live without us and said as much so csd mailed us our rejections first! Only, of course, because csd had lots of fantastic applicants and cw didn’t have as many. I still have some hope because my cw app. Was much stronger, I think. Also, like you oso, I feel attached to the cw community, and its much closer. Inside I wanted cw anyways, but the rejection was painful nonetheless. I’m enraged and my shall vent my frustration on my keyboard!
You’ll recall I was flat out rejected from Clarion also. But I did get into CW. Keep on keeping on!
Sorry to hear that, Scott. I also received my rejection notice from Clarion SD today as well. It feels terrible!
Wah, sad bear-face! I am sorry to hear that. It’s just ’cause you are following in the footsteps of Lapp. Or something like that.
Yes, sad face. But there is still CW. It ain’t over til it is over 🙂
Hey Scott, I hear there is this husband and wife team that runs these nifty little workshops out in Oregon. I think they run them in Lincoln City, actually. Priced just right for a weekend or even a week’s get-a-way. Can’t be sure, but I hear they’re good. (wink)
If the Clarion(s) turn yah down, I’ve heard from a few Clarion grads that the Lincoln City stuff is better. Just my two cents.
Oh, I like the blog redesign BTW! Awesome!
