Preditors and Editors
Not sure how well known the Preditors and Editors Reader’s Poll is. It’s a small award whose prize is a lovely animated gif to post on your website. This year’s poll (for last year’s stories) is open for voting through TONIGHT AT MIDNIGHT (not sure which time zone).
Why do I mention this so late? Mostly because it was just brought to my attention that “Leech Run” is on the poll for Best Science Fiction & Fantasy Story! I didn’t put it there, but I’m thrilled. Similarly, the anthology in which it ran, Zero Gravity, is also up for Best Anthology. Very cool.
Anyone can vote and voters are selected at random to win prizes, too. It’s probably tacky to tell you to go vote for me, so just go vote. If it’s for me, so much the better. 🙂
EDF literally stopped participating in this when it became apparent the winners had all stuffed the ballot box.
Until the poll starts reflecting real world buying patterns, or AT LEAST the some of the stuff that wins Hugos and Nebulas ends up near the top ten, it’s pretty much a useless poll.
I had a feeling it would work that way. But it’s nice to be on the ballot, anyway.
Not to pee on your parade, but literally anyone can nominate anyone for any reason. 100s of self-published authors nominate themselves every year then stuff the ballot box.
Now, an HM from Best Fantasy of the Year would be cool to get…
Yes, less pee please. I figure the nom came from someone at Pill Hill who published the antho. But they still nominated mine over the others in the book. I am under no delusions that P&E is some overwhelming honor, but I’ll take the ackolades that come my way. I didn’t nominate it, so someone likes me. Or my story, anyway.
Oh, >I:)
Wow, bug in your blogging software with that comment…
